Our Mission
“The YMCA of  Brandon is a charitable association dedicated to providing quality programs and services for all individuals in the development of Spirit Mind and Body.
The YMCA In Our Community Since 1886
The YMCA of Brandon first began in Brandon in 1886. Our first YMCA building was built in 1905. The second YMCA facility was built in 1966, operating until August, 2013.
Our current facility, the Dood Cristall Family YMCA, opened August 26, 2013.
Caring for Children
The YMCA in Canada is the largest provider of Child Care services. In 2003, the YMCA of Brandon opened a 24-space licensed daycare facility. On June 1, 2013, this centre moved over to the new Dood Cristall Family YMCA.
In September of 2006, we opened a second centre at the corner of 34th St. and Victoria Ave. Y West Early Learning Centre has 8 infant spots as well as 24 pre-school spots.
Y New Era Early Learning Centre opened in the fall of 2007. The centre is for 3, 4, & 5 year olds within the New Era catchment area.
In November, 2009 we opened Y South Early Learning Centre. It has a capacity of 104 preschool, 16 infant and 28 school age spots. Y South is the largest child care centre in Western Manitoba.
On April 1, 2018, the YMCA began operating Y Valleyview Early Learning Centre, our 5th licensed centre. It is located in Valleyview Community Centre, beside Valleyview Centennial School. Y Valleyview is licensed for 30 school aged children and 10 kindergarten/preschool children.Â
We were very excited to open our 6th licensed centre in January, 2021 in the new Maryland Park School.
The YMCA operates Before & After School recreational child care sites at 16 Brandon & area Schools to help working parents.

- There are Recycling bins located throughout the facility
- This building uses 42% less energy than similar buildings
- All change rooms conserve energy and water with low-flow toilets and shower heads, and automatic taps. Water savings are 42% vs normal fixtures.
- 90% of the regularly occupied areas have views to outside and most areas have auto shut-off lights to conserve energy.
- The pool water is filtered with ultra violet light which requires that less chemicals need to be used to treat it.
