The Heart Rehab Program is intended for people who have some form of heart disease, have had a heart attack, heart surgery, or have experienced angina. Heart Rehab is a medically supervised exercise program that has been in existence since 1985. The purpose of the program is to enhance a person’s level of physical fitness, restore functional abilities, and feelings of well-being. The Heart Rehab Program continues to be supported by the Manitoba Health Services Commission. Initial sponsorship of the program was provided for by the Brandon General Hospital Foundation and the Keystone Kinsmen Club.
How To Join the Program
Talk to your physician. If he/she feels you would benefit from such a program he/she will refer you to the Heart Rehab Medical Director. Before you can register for the program, a Graded Exercise Test (Stress Test) will be completed. This test will determine your health and the proper exercise prescription for you. This information will be forwarded to the YMCA Fitness Coordinator. The Coordinator will contact you to arrange a program orientation session.
The Heart Rehab Program runs Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
