The YMCA of Brandon is grateful to be generously supported with emergency COVID-19 funding for operations. Thank you Thomas Sill Foundation!
We are pleased to share that we have been selected by Canadian Tire Jumpstart to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund. The fund helps community sport organizations like ours continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids. This grant will support our aquatics programs by providing a “physical distancing lifeguard” required by public health to ensure COVID-19 distancing is maintained.¬†
The YMCA of Brandon is thrilled to receive support to continue with a a COVID-19 Physical Distancing Lifeguard in 2021. The federal government made funds available to charities for COVID-19 relief through Emergency Community Support Fund with the United Way administering the program.  We were the recipient of a grant to continue to provide support to families in our community through our Membership Assistance program. These funds will go a long way to ensuring that we have a viable YMCA in the future.
The United Way is also an annual supporter of our Before & After School program.
The YMCA was chosen as the child care provider for the new Maryland Park School, scheduled to open in January of 2021. The startup costs of a child care centre are high, and the YMCA being a charity needed a little help. Gord & Diane Peters, through the Brandon Area Community Foundation, stepped up to support our YMCA with a grant for furnishings for two classrooms. Gord & Diane are long-term supporters of our YMCA, and we cannot thank them enough for their generosity!
November, 2020 Update:  Gord & Diane have generously funded another Maryland Park Early Learning Centre initiative Рthey, through their BACF fund, are providing $$ for appliances for the new centre and operating funds for our YMCA. Amazing!
